I have no choice but to hold your posts for moderation before they become visible.

You can be critical of this site, the initiative, and those involved all you want: we’ve provided you ample space and unrestricted commenting since your arrival. We even kindly offered you contributor status to post a weekly “pro photo radar” article to the front page; you refused.

But when you start to post personal information, invalid accusations, and constant personal attacks against other users, you disrupt the discussion.

Once your posts become less abrasive and more on-topic, we’ll restore your direct post capabilities.

  5. geez says:

personal information and personal attacks is certainly understandable, I’d do the same.
but the invalid accusations is a bit ironic.

  6. Stacey says:

Guys, I am tired. We got a lot of signatures today. The people in that area are enthusiastic and happy to see us! I think we should go out to that area more often, although I am tired from the drive. lol

Any area saturated with cameras will be bring lots of signatures.

  7. Doc says:

Wish I coulda been with you all today, but duty called. I gotta’ go with Stacey, if the area’s that saturated, lets do it again! May I suggest a Saturday?
    Great Job, guys! Thanks for…

  8. Stacey says:

Hey Doc, I am sorry you couldn’t make it.

  9. kandaris says:

    geez,

re: “azcental said a whole 5 showed up”

azcentral only hurts their credibility when they inaccurately report on any event. The official count though some were coming and going was about 40-45.

Most likely azcentral showed up early and didn’t stay long enough to allow folks coming at various times to arrive.

This was, in our opinion, a very successful event which gathered many signatures for the citizen’s initiative.

  10. Doc says:

    kandaris & All-
Please correct me if I’m wrong; Isn’t azcentral owned/operated by those fine folks @ th’ Arizona Repulsive…OOPS! Sorry, Republic, I meant to type REPUBLIC! Those guys, just like the Prescott Daily Courier, more commonly known up here as “th’cat box liner”, wouldn’t know what journalisn was if it were a Rottwieler knawin on their a$$e$. They consistantly report a biased view of the news. I’m all for an “op-ed” piece, but these guys DO NOT check out anything. They get a note from th’ cop blotto, & just run with it. Never mind following through. Case in point-“only 5 showed up”. Why would a “reporter” for this rag wanna’ stay around for th’ full story? This is a small, but very important part of the problem with the current state of affairs in our fair state.(wow…that came out pretty good…) Many folks just read what “azcentral.com” & th’ repulsive throw out there, & take it as Gospel. It goes hand-in-hand with the amount of apathy here, in oue state, & our Country, in my opinion.

  11. Glyph says:

12 News (an NBC affiliate), AZCentral, and the Arizona Republic are all owned by Gannett Media, and we simply cannot get any good press from these folks.

It bears mentioning that Michael Ferraresi worked as a reporter for the AZRepublic, then worked in PR for Redflex, and is now BACK to work for the AZRepublic (at about the same time they did massive layoffs).

Money talks, don’t it? Redflex bought themselves a seat on Gov. Brewer’s transition team, and bought themselves a newsdesk at the AZRepublic. Y’know, if I didn’t hate ’em so much, I’d have to admire them :-/

  12. Stacey says:

It really doesn’t matter how many people show up to hold up signs, it matters how many signatures we get for the petition. I think the people in that area were excited to see us and happy to sign the petition. I know I was running from car to car having people sign it. These tickets are really putting a financial strain on those who can’t afford them. No wonder the Scottsdale residents never put up a fight. I guess it is just easier for some people to pay them.

  13. What’s the latest signature count?

  14. Doc says:

May I defer from the topic for 1 post? This is a little long, so please bear w/me. Mary Peters, the Secretary of Transportation w/Geo. Bush, was in town a couple of weeks ago, speaking @ the Goldwater Institute, espousing her rhetoric on yet another way to garner MORE $$$$ from the taxpayers/drivers of Az. (Please sit down…)TOLL ROADS! Check out http://www.tollroadsnews.com …you will not believe the gall of these people.

They ran an article last Sep. on how we out here in the west wrongfully call our highways “Freeways”, when the correct term SHOULD be…”Tollways or Tollroads” It’s being looked into folks! Now, just like scameras, on the surface this sounds like a “nessessary evil”. But, when you get down to the meat of it, it’s the same thing as scameras, only miles & miles long. They use tracking technology, ANLR technology, all that crap, on the guise of charging you to drive on “THEIR” roads. But they get municipalities, & states to make it so difficult to drive on the “free roads” that most people just say to hell with it, & pay th’ toll. By doin’ that, you FREELY GIVE PERMISSION to these private corporations to track you, ‘cuz that’s how they get paid. And since you’re acccepting THEIR “Pre-Pass” or other type of payment on a monthly bill style “plan”, hell, these bastards end up gettin’ you to agree to be tracked! BEAT THAT for GALL, HUH?!?!?

So, to agree w/Stacey on th’ $$$$ point is true, however, it goes far beyond that. Again, it’s Orwellian technology being rammed down our throats, under the guise of revenue generation. I for 1 WISH that was all it was about. And if that is the real story, I’ve got a better idea. How about if our legislators start being fiscally responsible?!?! Learn how to cut expenses w/out cutting off your nose to spite your face! Families all over our state, mine for DAMN SURE, are doin’ just that! Th’ thermostat is @ 65 deg. We don’t go out to dinner once a week; maybe once every month or 2. We’re goin’ to th’ Boat Drags in April, but only ‘cuz we got free tickets, & we’re takin’ th’ tent trailer, as opposed to stayin’ in a hotel, & we’re bringin’ hamburgers & hotdogs insteada’ eatin’ @ th’ track.

My I suggest that our vigilant & gracious hosts contact Firebird Raceway officials, & maybe you/we could get permission to set up a booth on th’ midway to gather signatures. I’m gonna’ be there for th’ season opener of Boat Drags, “Lakefest”, & would gladly volunteer a few hours workin’ said booth for our cause. Their website is, http://www.firebirdraceway.com . There, you’ll find contact info & a sched. of this YEARS events. If we got a booth out there @ every event, we might very well have all th’ signatures we wanted before the Dec 12th “Hot Import Nights” event! Lots of folks go to Firebird. Due to the economy, I don’t know how buzy it’ll be this year, butcha’ never can tell! There’s a National NHRA event TODAY & TOMORROW!

  15. Glyph says:

I dunno, the Firebird Raceway is on a reservation just like the Scottsdale Pavilions are. It might be the same tribe, but I don’t know for sure.

  16. Doc says:

Yeah, But if we ask their permission aheadatime…maybe? It’s just a thought. Doc

  17. geez says:

    Stacey,
If photo enforcement violations put a financial burden on those that can’t afford them… well they could have easily avoided getting a violation now couldn’t they?

If azcentral hurts their credibility with inaccurate reporting, ya’ll should think twice about the lies, false claims, and OH apparently some (as we have learned) the criminal records of your leaders!

  18. Stacey says:

One has to wonder how the person posting at azcentral.com had access to criminal records. Hmmmmm.
Funny though, the Arizona Republic got that information off there IMMEDIATELY.

Intimidation won’t work with us. I for one have no criminal record and object to the speed cameras. When you have photo radar cameras under overpasses and at onramps to freeways you are endangering the lives of drivers.

Driving on the freeway is dangerous enough when dealing with a multitude of variables,(sun and headlight glare, wet and icy roads, dust, debris, broken down cars, people on cell phones, and over sized vechicles) the last thing we need are more distractions to react to as other drivers hit their brakes and are blinded by these cameras.

  19. I'm Back says:

I love the 2 a.m.-posting, CameraFraud-hating crowd. What’s going on guys? A little wound up?

  20. I'm Back says:

Oh and I can’t leave out the ones who post at 4 a.m. too.

  21. I'm Back says:

Sorry for the multiple posts, but Amen to the no criminal record Stacey.I don’t have one either. In fact, I have zero points on my license and haven’t even attended defensive driving school since 2004, when I was given a ticket by Tempe PD for an illegal right turn.

Why don’t you role models come hunt me down on the Twitter page and figure out my IP address? I bet you can find all kinds of interesting info like the fact that I have a job, a clean record, run marathons, have a degree from ASU, went to Brophy, am a confirmed Catholic, have lived in AZ since 1986, most of my family lives here, etc etc etc.

As always, none of that really matters, it just happens to be the path in life that I have chosen. Criticize whomever you want that’s affiliated with this organization, but you definitely cannot intimidate us. We are The People.

  22. Law A. Bidingcitizen says:

you forgot putting on your makeup AND H E L L O stacey.. if you have a name, you can find out there civil and criminal past.. its easy…

stacey- did you have a camera cut you off? did it throw something out its window? did it flip you off? no what it does is flash for a split second and if that distracts you … then you dont need to be driving…. seriously… you people make it sound like the flash about makes you lose control.. it is hilarious!!! and just what is an oversized vehicle?

im hack- i have no desire to meet you or hunt you down…. brophy.. yea that explains a lot…. im just surprised that you didnt attend the ua… thats where most of the brophy donkeys go ..right? hey next time you want to show your credentials to stacey… do it at a dating site!! none of the rest of us care!!!

how about the ones that post between 2 and 4 !!!
yes you are the people .. in a world of their own..

  23. geez says:

“Driving on the freeway is dangerous enough when dealing with a multitude of variables,(sun and headlight glare, wet and icy roads, dust, debris, broken down cars, people on cell phones, and over sized vechicles) the last thing we need are more distractions to react to as other drivers hit their brakes and are blinded by these cameras.”

I see you conveniently left out speeding vehicles Stacey

  24. Law A. Bidingcitizen says:

she also left out distractions that happen below the steering wheel!!!!

    what chew talkin bout willis?

  25. Stacey says:

I also left out fatigued drivers, emotional drivers, and drunks too. Let’s also throw in people distracted by their kids and pets. Obviously, we have enough distractions on the road as it is.

  26. Law A. Bidingcitizen says:

ANSWER THE QUESTION… whats an oversized vehicle…. stacey!!!

  27. Dan G says:

Please don’t feed the trolls people! We’ve responded to one in particular point by point on many issues that he has NEVER addressed. Just spewing vitriol and attacks with no point.

Back to the point, or the original subject at hand:
I went to the demonstration and saw many more than 5 people there. Some mitigating factors include:
    -People work and have lives
-East valley not easily accessible to western valley during rush hour
-Many still don’t know there’s a petition/demonstration against the scameras

However, if people think that the only supporters were the ones AT the event, they are sadly mistaken. Many people voiced their approval with loud honks and yells, indicating that the polls will show a different view than what the hacks tell us.

Silence of the masses does NOT equal approval!

  28. Doc says:

Site hosts & moderators- WWWWWeeeeelllllllll-I’m not a big “Nascar” fan. But it’s a pretty big draw here in sunny ol’ Phoenix…far more understandable than an Ice Hockey team in Phoenix…but I digress. Th’ aforementioned activity is th’ “Subway 500”, @ Phoenix International Raceway in late April…which AIN’T on th’ rez. Also, Arizona Bike week…th’ Bike Drags are @ th’ dragstrip out towards lake Pleasant. Hell, there’s a website just for Az Bike week, or yous can check w/any H.D. dealer in th’ Valley! I Personally don’t go, ‘cuz it’s a copfest. However, lotsa folks do. Hope this helps get more signatures!

  29. NoMoreCameras says:

    Hello everyone,
Thanks for your all of your efforts to ban photo enforcement in AZ!! I am a resident of Utah and last November, we were on our way to Prescott Valley to visit my mother for Thanksgiving. My wife was driving as we went up Highway 69 and got nailed by a fixed camera for driving “approx 11 mph” over the “posted” speed limit. I am appealing the $190 ticket because neither one of us remember seeing a speed limit sign indicating a change in speed. But, most importantly, we don’t remember seeing a YELLOW SIGN indicating a camera was in operation (as requited by Arizona Revised Statutes §28-654). I noticed that someone (on your Flickr photo album) posted some really great photos of the very camera!! (BTW, I don’t see ANY yellow warning signs) But is there any one out there who lives in Prescott Valley or in Prescott who would be willing to shoot some photos between the 169 intersection at Dewey the stationary camera at milepost 287 and e-mail them to me? I want to include some photos, if possible, when I send the county court my memorandum of appeal. Thanks!!

  30. NoMoreCameras says:

BTW, here are the photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/33011440@N02/3214946588
Is there any way to copy these without having to sign up for Flickr?
