Bill-hb2579This is just a friendly reminder to all you enthusiasts of safe roads, rule of law and equal protection of said laws in Arizona.

Legislature foisted this system upon the motorists of our state and now it’s time for them to end it.

An excellent example of what your legislators want to hear was sent to us yesterday [link].

The Transportation Committee in the AZ House will debate and vote on HB 2579 tomorrow

Time Magazine – “Big Brother Backlash”

February 16, 2012

The CameraFRAUD meetup group was mentioned in this piece by Time Magazine’s “Moneyland.”

With bills like SCR 1029 making their way through state legislatures in Arizona, Iowa, Colorado and Florida to name a few in 2012, the citizen backlash is being felt by politicians everywhere on the state level.

The question is, are they listening?

Redflex Out of Albuquerque After Council Vote

November 8, 2011

Courtesy of WarOnDriving.com

Redflex Traffic Systems will say goodbye to Albuquerque in 60 days. Last night, the city council, headed by the efforts of Councilor Dan Lewis, voted to uphold the will of the people and get rid of the city’s red light cameras.

Also gone will be the Redflex “Scamera” vans that take up space on the side of the road and have been known to burst into flames due to over heated electronics.

This decision comes on the heels of an advisory vote by the citizens of Albuquerque last month that favored ending the program.

KQRE has more on this development:

Rahm Emanuel Desperate for Some Speed… Cameras…

October 21, 2011

Chicago is the so-called “Red Light Camera Capitol” of the United States. Their residents would be hard-pressed to argue with that title.

But now, Mayor Emanuel wants to add speed cameras to the Windy City’s repertoire of revenue extractors despite his promise over the summer that he wouldn’t “nickel and dime taxpayers.”

Top 10 CameraFRAUD Stories From 2010 – Part I

December 27, 2010

News in the world of scameras was everywhere in 2010. It would be nearly impossible to cover it all, but we’d first like to thank our friends from across the country for providing endless info and effort to push back on the fraud that is photo ticketing. Our right sidebar is where you’ll find links to their websites filled with stories of volunteers fighting the same good fight that we have been since 2008 in Arizona.

Collectively we accomplished a lot in 2010, but what’s coming in 2011 will more than likely be even bigger and better, so get ready.

In the first part of this look back, we’ll give you  stories #10 – #6. Tuesday will feature the top 5.

10. The Easter Bunny “Eggs Photo Radar.”

On the day before Easter, Shelton was on the scene at the intersection of Rural and University in Tempe to film an unknown person dressed up like the Easter Bunny “doing the job that Arizona State Legislature” refused to do in 2010. The egg definitely spoiled some serious profits for Redflex

9. Stats from all over show that cameras create more dangerous intersections and roadways.

Time and time again, statistics from independent studies and state departments of transportation show that camera installation is associated with increased accidents. Here are a few more examples (of many) that were released in 2010.

Los Angeles

New Mexico

Baytown, TX

Winnipeg, Canada

8. CameraFRAUD is covered by The Fox News Channel.

Because of the magnitude of the scamera issue, national news coverage is nothing new, but this report by the infamous news outlet in March covered angles that had been neglected by other national press.

7. Paradise Valley photo radar and red light cam scam takes major heat.

Paradise Valley was the first municipality in the United States to adopt photo ticketing. The initiative to ban the cameras in that town began to expose politicians, law enforcement and judges who are what we call “scamera apologists.”

In September, Channel 10 gave us the chance to have a  debate with former Police Chief John Wintersteen who has a very cozy relationship with both Redflex and ATS.

6. California begins to see through the red light camera rhetoric

Anaheim and Loma Linda saw major victories for the anti-photo ticketing movement. Anaheim was one of 5 cities that were able to vote on banning red light cameras and had the largest margin of victory with 73% casting their ballot to keep ATS’s automated ticketing machines out of their intersections.

Loma Linda city council was presented with clear evidence that red light cams are dangerous and signal timing is what actually increases safety. In an amazing display of common sense and public service, the cameras were taken down and an extra second added to yellow light times.

That city will undoubtedly see a decrease in collisions and more friendly intersections for motorists. Hopefully that action will serve as a model for many other municipalities who are actually trying to do the right thing and protect their citizens rights while increasing safety. This was the definition of win-win.

Come back Tuesday for our Top 5 stories from 2010!

Loma Linda, CA Shuts Off Red Light Cameras, Extends Yellow Light Times

December 6, 2010

In a rare moment of sanity for easily manipulated City Council members, those in Loma Linda decided that, well, “enough was enough” with red light scameras.

Not only did they shut them off, but incredibly, in the name of actual safety, a full second was added to all yellow light times where the cameras were removed.

Pretend safety “experts,” Redflex Traffic Systems, who ran the Loma Linda spy camera ring were taking home the lion share of the money from the citations that were in excess of $500. And you thought your $181 ransom note from AZ DPS was profitable for the Australian operation!

Undoubtedly, just like everywhere else that yellow light times are extended and overall traffic signal timing is improved, Loma Linda is sure to see a dramatic decrease in accidents across the board. Congrats to the people of that city who will surely be happy with the exit of Redflex.

Do You NOT Miss Me Yet?

November 29, 2010

Let’s be honest, Arizona owes an apology to the rest of the country. We knew how ugly things get when Janet is in charge, but quietly letting her leave AZ for DC without a stern warning was a big mistake. Now it’s too late for that, but there’s still time to remind everyone just how poor of a track record this “public servant” has.

During what was an obvious bubble in the Arizona economy due to real estate prices skyrocketing, then Governor Napolitano decided it would be a great idea to spend every single dime possible and put Arizona on the hook for years to come with terrible budgeting. When it was time to pay the tab, she put spy cameras all over our freeways, in an attempt to “make $90 Million” in her own words, not ours. That program was a complete and utter failure, but Janet didn’t care because she had left the nightmare she created behind.

Unfortunately, now the entire country is reaping the whirlwind of this woman who makes decisions on a whim and covers up obvious failures with laughable lines like “the system worked” – when referring to last year’s attempted “underwear bombing.” The man with the bomb in his pants was only foiled by an alert passenger after easily passing through security. What exactly worked there Janet?

Maybe she was referring to things working out quite nicely for Michael Chertoff, then head of the Transportation Security Administration, now commonly called TSA, who used the underwear bomber as an excuse to order the very expensive so-called backscatter x-ray machines which show very graphic images of the genitalia and body composition of every person passing through them. Chertoff is now sitting pretty as the head of the company whose main client, Rapiscan, manufactures the machines and is making a fortune.

What has ensued since the main stream media grabbed  a hold of this story has been nothing less than a complete embarrassment, the likes of which a Federal Agency may have never seen before. Images mocking the TSA for being perverted are long in supply all over the internet and growing in numbers. The catalyst for the story moving so quickly in to center focus was the accompanying controversy over the new and highly invasive pat downs, in which a TSA agent is trained to grope innocent airline passengers, feeling once off limit body parts like breasts and genitalia.

Even Congressman Ron Paul, who visited Arizona this month, described a situation in which a TSA agent touched his privates while mocking him for being subject to the search in the first place. This is really a sick situation and frankly, Americans have had enough. The Drudge Report picked up the TSA body scanner/groping story first from a mainly online radio show hosted by Alex Jones of Austin, TX. Jones had been warning for months that the new procedures were coming to an airport near you.

Because of Drudge repeatedly pushing this story and creating so many hits on related search terms, it went “mega viral” and could not be ignored by the likes of CNN, Fox News and MSNBC along with every other legacy media conglomerate.

What has Napolitano, now frequently referred to as “Big Sis” had to say about all this? She continues to act as if there is nothing wrong with naked images and groping. That’s fine for a producer of pornographic films, but Big Sis is supposed to be a serious leader who is in charge of The United States Department of Homeland Security which presides over the TSA. She seems to think the 4th Amendment of the United States Constitution is forfeited with the purchase of an airline ticket. It’s tough to say it about someone in such a high post, but she comes across as completely clueless.

Maybe we Arizonans should have fought to keep her from going to D.C. but it was just too tempting to wave goodbye and hope for the best. Calls  for her resignation are once again surfacing, just as they had after her ridiculous comments about the system working on the underwear bomber.

The TSA has quickly fallen out of favor with millions of Americans and several airports may seek alternatives. Some airports in California are being patrolled by Police who are looking for TSA agents that commit what is being called sexual assault during the groping pat downs. They have been ordered to arrest these agents if their conduct is inappropriate. The notion that the TSA keeps us safe is a false premise if they need Police officers constantly watching them.

Just as we in Arizona had to do with the photo radar spy cameras littering our freeways, Americans are learning to stand up against ridiculous “safety measures” that are only designed to use fear to sell expensive equipment and make money for a private company on the backs of taxpayers and travelers.

The parallels are unmistakable and the next move is clear. Send Janet packing.

August 27, 2010

One of the largest news organizations in Australia is shedding light on just how negative the sentiment is towards the cameras there. They’ve seen what’s been happening in Arizona and are anxious to follow our lead. The Aussies are trying kick Redflex out of their Courts and take the cameras down!
