After much anticipation, the Photo Radar Prohibition bill (SB1352) is now available online for viewing. Introduced by AZ State Senator Frank Antenori, it is an all out ban on the photo ticketing scam in Arizona.
In the past few days, many cosponsors have stepped forward to sign SB1352, giving it widespread support.
Call, e-mail and fax your legislators to let them know you’re fully in favor of banning the scameras in AZ.
Lookup for your own State Rep here.
Great example letter you can cut and paste or reword here
If 1352 passes, we don’t have to worry, but there is also SB1354, an minor bill that mandates that NOV say tht you don’t have to identify the driver in the photo.

That’s funny bc you already don’t have to do that. Are they going to have to stop sending “snitch tickets” if it passes and the ban doesn’t?
AGAIN with the semantics…..the bill says
“A person receives a notice of violation or uniform traffic ticket and complaint in the mail for a violation of chapter 3, article 3 or 6 of this title or of a city or town ordinance for excessive speed or failure to obey a traffic control device that is obtained using a photo enforcement system, the person does not have to do either of the following”
Notice how it says “excessive speed”
No one is ever given a photo radar ticket for “excessive speed”…they are given a ticket for “speed not reasonable and prudent”…702.1A This bill is bullshit…
Here’s the email I sent to my representatives & Senator, feel free to borrow or copy my text to send a message to your reps.

I added a line in my email to say:
Contrary to popular belief, photo enforcement actually makes roads less safe: http://photoradarscam.com/lesssafe.php
As most people aren’t aware of the plethora of news articles about accidents increasing where cameras are installed.
Great idea about including info about it making roads less safe!
photo radar violates the 5th 7th and 14th amendments to the U.S. Constitution
When is the earliest it could pass?
I can’t see this going anywhere with the League of Cities crying bloody murder over not only the loss of the revenue but also the contracts that they got themselves into and the subsequent early termination fees.
The cities will revolt, the state will cave.
And I doubt these politicians have the balls to actually pass this.
There shouldn’t be a lot of concern about termination fees. A contract to provide what would be an illegal service is not enforceable. The termination would be mutual because it would be illegal to issue tickets so Redflex/ATS wouldn’t insist that their cameras stay up because there would be no point in doing so.
The cries about the lack of revenue masked as hysteria about the coming bloodbath when the cameras are taken down will be deafening for sure.
By the way, I’m working on a story for my website where Redflex has been locked out of the California DMV database. They are having their clients (cities) look up the information for them for now. Apparently, ATS and other companies are not affected.
Anyone that can help me research what authority Redflex or ATS has to access AZ DMV databases I could use the help. It seems to be governed by ARS 28-455 but I don’t see any provisions for an unlicensed PI company to be given access to this database. Email me for info. contact@photoradarscam.com
A consortium of these companies have created their own fusion center as NLETS – the “iNternational Justice and Public Safety Network.”
Their trojan horse in interstate and international exchange of MVD and driver records.
ALL of the photo enforcement agencies have access to this system as they control NLETS.
OnStar and LoJack are also part of this system.
That’s not counting whatever they’re doing at the real “fusion centers”:

NLETS: http://www.nlets.org
We will still be left with ANPR,ALPR,HOV cameras, Toll and video surveillace of inocent motorists.
At least it’s a start..
AGAIN, I see problems with this.
First off it does not address the fundamental problem of government/private corporations spying on the people without their consent and two it does not stop the photo radar companies from sending the ticket to the automobile.
I can guess who wrote the bill…because this look exactly like a classic bait and switch
The photo radar will not be used to identify the violator (you) but the car is the only thing that need be identified. The DMV then suspends the registration on the automobile.
This bill would actually make it easier for them to collect the money because they would use the DMV to do it
Who ever thinks this bill will eliminate photo radar from Arizona is off in the clouds
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has decided not to expand a program that would allow airports to replace government screeners with private screeners.
The news comes a month after the agency said it was “neutral” on the program. The screening program became popular following the uproar over enhanced security pat-downs, which some travelers found intrusive.

I hope there’s some real momentum to this, but I don’t see this passing as long as Kirk Adams is in the way. If it actually clears the senate, it will never reach the entire House floor and be voted upon.
It’ll take a miracle…
The Ross County Board of Elections formally has asked the Ohio Supreme Court to drop the City of Chillicothe’s request to remove the red-light camera ban from the November ballot.
Meanwhile, local residents opposed to the traffic cameras descended upon Monday’s regular meeting of City Council to air their displeasure with the attempt to take the issue off the ballot.

Sadly, when I sent my email out to ask my state reps for their support and passage of SB1352, Ben Arredondo in District 17 wrote this response in favor of the scameras:
Dear Mr. (LastName),
Thank you for your comments. This is something I see a little differently.
Sincerely,
P. Ben Arredondo
Did you show Ben any statistics showing red light cameras being a danger at intersections? Did you send him the stats about how longer yellows actually work better? Did you remind Ben that facts should come before personal fears and/or prejudices?
I can’t stand it when people who represent others vote based on feelings alone.
I guess Mr. Arredondo doesn’t believe in REPRESENTING his constituents.
The American Federation of Government Employees today praised Transportation Security Administration Administrator John Pistole for putting a stop to the privatization of this country’s airport screening function, also known as the Screening Partnership Program (SPP).
