The first day of legislative cycles have begun in Arizona and Florida.
Bill sponsors and their cosponsors in both states are extremely confident that red light cameras will be turned off and taken down by year’s end. The recent election results in 2010 that saw several cities ban the red light ticketing scam continue to prove that the system is extremely unpopular.
The two operators of the ticketing machines, Redflex Traffic Systems and American Traffic Solutions are currently tied up in lawsuits in which both are suing their own customers, the cities they operate in.
Adding to the woes of Redflex, in particular, would be the requirement that they notify their shareholders of the impending bans in Arizona and Florida. Events like this tend to have a negative impact on stock prices and the timing couldn’t be worse for Redflex, which is currently up for sale.
2011 is not off to a good start for automated ticketing pushers.
Redflex in negotiations with Macquarie
From Wikipedia:
“Macquarie group through its subsidiary Macquarie Equipment Rentals has allegedly been perpetrating a telco finance scam. Macquarie Equipment Rentals has sued over 300 victims of the scam which involves bundling a finance equipment contract with a contract from a small telecommunications company often obscuring that the finance contract exists.”
“The company’s high margins and profits, and the consequent rewards for its executives and shareholders, have seen news website Crikey dub the bank “The Millionaire Factory””
Says a lot about the companies looking to acquire Redflex.. Such investors probably use “scam” as a keyword to find companies of interest to invest in or buy.
Lawmakers consider new curbs on incendiary speech

You have to laugh at all those stupid Redflex employees as they watch Karen Finley making out like a bandit. No integrity among thieves.
What are the HB/SB numbers of the anti-photo radar legislation?
The only state bill I see is HB2013, and that one is pro-photo radar (probably at the behest of the Redflex or ATS lobbyists). It bans the use of any or all license plate covers designed to thwart photo radar.
It was introduced by Steve Farley (a Democrat, of course) – the Assistant Minority Leader. I swear – if the Dems ever get control of the legislature from the GOP we’ll have photo radar up everywhere… Thanks, douchebag.
Coming soon.
The plate cover law is unecessary because it is covered by the plate visibility law. If they are going to ban plate covers, they need to also ban mud/dirt, trailer hitches, bike racks, wheel chair racks, and anything else that can block visibility of a plate.
There should be a whole slew of anti-photo radar bills this year, including a) 1 second grace period on red light tickets b) required engineering studies & annual reports c) PI license requirements d) signs required regardless of speed limit e) prohibit multiple photo tickets in one day f) prohibit photo ticketing for right turn on red
Linda Gray, Michele Reagan, and Kirk Adams love that photo radar too.
Kirk Adams is a REAL problem. He’s the Speaker – which means he can easily derail any anti-photo radar bills, like he did to Sam Crump’s bill a while back.
I’m a hard core fiscal conservative and a registered GOP guy and I have no problem with calling him a dirty bastard…
Washington: Lawmaker Proposes Referendum on Traffic Cameras

The Libertarian Party was active in the initial support against the cameras and encouraged their party voters to fight against all red light camera tickets when they reviewed the evidence that pointed toward the cameras making intersections more dangerous (not to mention that they are a mechanism of surveillance). They also lobbied the legislature to help get this bill introduced.

Vist lpmaricopa.org if you are intested in the supporting or finding out more about the Libertarian Party here in Maricopa County. I am an active member and committeeman.
The Libertarian Party in Florida is what that 1st line should have read, but we also had Libertarian support by Michael Kielsky who was the Libertarian cadidate that many of you may know. He ran for County Attorney in this last election.
Redflex ends contract with town – not enough money coming in after light timing rules implemented.

I hope that every city and states follows the trend in getting automated traffic enforcement out of town. The legal battles against Redflex are getting heated in southern California, as posted on my website.

pelosi and the gavel
Pelosi was portrayed on a recent episode of SNL. They actually made her look like a normal person, not the alien-like creature she resembles. That show is just about irrelevant at this point, IMO.
When I saw the Pelosi video I actually gasped. Schocked me.

Hello would you mind letting me know which hosting company you’re working with? I’ve loaded your blog
in 3 completely different web browsers and I must say this blog loads
a lot quicker then most. Can you recommend a good
web hosting provider at a fair price? Thank you, I appreciate it!
Aw, this was a really good post. Spending some time and actual
effort to generate a good article… but what
can I say… I hesitate a lot and don’t manage to get nearly anything done.
