Will Governor Brewer Do The Right Thing?

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has a lot on her plate these days. Let’s make sure she doesn’t ignore the photo radar expansion bill that was just passed at the Eleventh Hour after furious lobbying by Redflex Traffic Systems and more complicity with Photo Radar fraud by our State Legislature. SB1018 passed with only two members of the AZ House voting against it.

Here is a summary of what SB 1018 does to expand photo radar:

1. Expands the time allowed for process serving

2. It allows for the serving of a ticket before a charge is even filed. This is the equivalent of being handed an extortion letter and in fact, the would be the first law in written history to allow for this.

3. Allows off duty cops to serve tickets , which was covered last week.

4. And if that weren’t enough, it retroactively protects to the Board of Supervisors for illegally charging more fees

Governor Brewer, we know that mathematical equations and reading the State and Federal Constitutions is really difficult for our elected officials, but this one should be easy.

To our supporters, lets make sure we know how she feels:

Please live up to your previous stance that you do not like Photo Traffic Enforcement. If you do not like it, please veto SB1018 which expands it.

They didn’t tack on any surprise amendments did they? Did anyone check?

I had to go to PINETOP 4-30-2010 for work, and in passing thruogh STAR VALLEY they were installing new cameras on 260 right near the old ones so either old one’s are gone or they are trying to get you 2 x’s and in SHOW LOW unmarked vans with no signage at all , on side and main streets. And they are trying to get you going down hill too…

Man they must be really desperate, they all drive like a worms up there any way.

I have seen this on the 101 freeway a few times where they have a scamvan placed within 100 ft of the fixed cameras and no additional signage. And yes, someone would be speeding and get hit by the fixed and then by the scamvan.

      • B says:

That sounds like they’ve found a loophole in the current law. It probably doesn’t say only ONE camera can be placed after the 2+ warning signs. They only have to be within the certain distances…

So I wonder how long it will take for this to be next up for her to look at with the major buzz around Immigration Law…anyone know?

  4. Mike Waters says:

Reworded the article some and sent the FAX this morning

  5. James Howard says:

    Looks like she signed it.
