Douglas Kennedy, reporter for Fox News National ran a story on Thursday about CameraFRAUD with several segments throughout the day. The story also featured a short clip of Jay Heiler mentioning something about compliance. Heiler’s demeanor has changed quiet a bit since his debate appearance in November.

Arizona: The Surveillance State

For years Arizona has been known as the “sunset state,” but lately some residents simply call it the “surveillance state.”
“They track us everywhere we go,” says Phoenix resident Shawn Dow. “It’s unbelievable. I can’t go anywhere and not have a camera tracking me.”
Dow is now trying to change all that with a ballot initiative this November that would ban all ticket cameras in Arizona.
“I’m tired of being constantly watched,” he said. We’re all being tracked like cattle.”
In 2007, Arizona became the first state in the country to install ticket cameras state-wide, meaning there are cameras on most state highways; there are cameras at many intersections; and there are camera-vans videotaping on side streets.

I tried to post a comment on that Fox News blog, but either their comment system is extremely slow, or the comments are going to a black hole. Since it’s not showing up there, here’s a copy of the rant that I posted:
It really irks me when people say: “the cameras only take your picture if you’re breaking the law” or “don’t speed and you don’t have to worry about the cameras” or “the cameras are about safety; not revenue”. All of these statements are false and based on ignorance.
The fact is, in Arizona, the cameras record video 24/7/365. The flash you may see is when the camera takes a high-resolution still photo of your face and license plate. Also, the cameras are prone to errors. They rely on sensors that will eventually fail or malfunction. Also, their license plate recognition software frequently mistakes similar letters and number, such as an I for a 1. This results in numerous people getting tickets in the mail that don’t deserve one.
I have lived in Arizona for over 10 years now. I am a safe driver, with no accidents in over 15 years due to my fault. Also, I have never been ticketed for speeding by an actual police officer in Arizona. However, since the cameras were installed, I have received 4 photo radar tickets in the mail, all of which had no merit. Yes, I could have fought them in court and probably won, but I chose to not give up my personal time and wait to see if I was properly served (and never once was I served).
The truth is, these cameras are about money and nothing else. And what’s most frustrating is to see the whole system controlled by a foreign company whose sole purpose is to increase profits and maximize shareholder value. If you’re still convinced that these cameras are more about safety than money, then I challenge you to read the 2006 RedFlex Investors Briefing (http://bit.ly/dymnZz ) and see how many times they mention the word “safety”. A simple search in Adobe Acrobat will show that it’s mentioned only 2 times, and the context of both has absolutely nothing to do with implementing safety. On the other hand, you’ll find 5 instances of the word “revenue”, 8 instances of the word “growth”, and 5 instances of the word “expansion”. Redflex probably pays them to turn off the comments on some articles. I noticed a more-than-usual amount of procamera people commenting on some scam articles lately. I figure it’s probably Redflex employees trying to sway opinions while making a lame attempt to show the public and us that there are a lot more pro-scam people than we think there are. AZ Central seems to have a problem allowing us to make our presence known. Some of our members here had their comments removed for adding a link to this website. AZ Central is in with the scam and should be boycotted.

All Chandler members need to attend the next few Chandler town meetings and let your voice be heard. Be prepared with facts. Demand engineering studies – neither the town council or the police chief are qualified traffic engineers to make decisions on traffic safety. Remind them of this. Demand data and facts before they make their decision based on greed.
Perhaps they should also be reminded that the prosecution is hired by the very same company issuing the citations. The judge and prosecutor both are motivated by PROFIT not “safety”. Also notice how there are no juries present in these “court” cases.
How can the accused possibly have a chance to have a fair trial?
Rise up,fight the system. Jam the courts so full of people demanding their right to a fair trial that cases will be pushed into the next century. Imagine if the docket had 100,000 cases??
As I said you don’t go into business not to make money.If safety is the issue, raise the yellow lite timing and red easy as that. So $$$$$,$$$$$ is the issue (GO CAMERA FRAUD GO)
These people that write “Only those who speed need to be worried about the cameras, just obey the law and you have nothing to worry about” absolutely disgust me. This is a country founded by people who strongly sought liberty and had an intense desire for essential liberties. To me, the state enforced surveillance of public roads to profit a private corporation is a violation of essential liberty. In fact, the corporate influence is almost even worse.
If there is such a thing as reincarnation, I hope these unAmerican sellout losers come back in their next lives as North Korean citizens, where they can live in their dream environment.
