Chandler PD: Exemplary Officers

chandlerpdCameraFRAUD would like to thank the Chandler Police Department and Sgt. Picquet for their professionalism and courtesy while ensuring public safety during today’s demonstration. Officers were at the location before we arrived, and actually left the immediate area to ensure that no one felt intimidated.

Sgt. Picquet exchanged phone numbers with a contact person at CameraFRAUD to ensure a line of communication in case of emergency. He thanked us for coming out and expressed the support the City of Chandler has for first amendment rights.

Chandler PD’s professionalism is in sharp contrast to the authoritarian intimidation tactics utilized in the past by the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS), the same agency which helps run the state’s profitable—and illegal—automated ticketing scheme.

In a related note, former Chandler PD veteren Paul Babeu was recently elected Sheriff in Pinal County, promptly ending automated ticketing.

I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all the police officers out there who keep us safe. I appreciate the fact that they put their lives on the line each and every day.

  5. Glyph says:

Definately! Chandler PD rep was greatly appreciated.

Y’know, local police departments have, for the most part, been very good to us. It’s that state law enforcement agency that’s been giving us grief.

  6. duece says:

Geez, I always thought you all were anti-law enforcment.

  7. No One says:

Why are you calling geez anti law enforcement?

    Sorry…had to. 🙂

But seriously, have you actually read this site at all? This subject has come up time and again, and it has been made pretty clear that when law enforcement is involved in a conflict of interest, or is over-reaching its bounds, that’s an issue…but on the whole the impression I’ve always got is that the folks here are very much appreciative of law enforcement and their daily efforts…that’s even specifically stated as one of the reasons the cameras need to go– or as so succinctly said above, “cops not cameras.”

I know that’s how I personally feel… I’d much rather entrust my safety to a sworn police officer than to a faceless automaton. And, having several family members in the fireman/paramedic/emt line of work, am reminded quite often of the fact that others (including police officers) are willing to put their ass on the line daily for people they do not know. I am both appreciative and humbled by that fact, so to repeatedly hear people such as yourself insinuating that because of my views on this specific issue that I “must” be some sort of rogue, cop-hating individual would make me angry if it weren’t so laughable.

  8. Mike says:

That’s awesome, I have a new found respect for Chandler’s law enforcement. Every single law enforcement officer that I’ve talked to (aside from DPS for obvious reasons) has been 100% against the cameras. They’re coming down!!!

Sorry I wasn’t able to join in the sign wave tonight – I stopped by with my friend and we both signed the petition – we were in my all black ’94 Corvette. Had other obligations that popped up but we went out of our way to show up and sign the petition to show our support! You guys all rock!!

  9. Law A. Bidingcitizen says:

thats dedication mike!!!! obligations that just “popped” up!!

  10. duece says:

Well then in todays economic mess, cities are strapped for funding and facing budget cuts. So they go to photo enforcement to reduce accidents. They cannot afford to hire more police. Would the members of Camera fraud support a tax increase to pay for more officers on the street? Why dont you start a movement for tax increases for more officers on the street?

  11. No One says:

No, they went to the cameras to increase revenue, not to decrease accidents. Just ask ex-governor Napolitano. And, as a member, I’ve said my piece on the whole tax issue several times…I believe at least once you and I traded posts on the subject. Are you done asking questions that have already been answered?

  12. Doc says:

The “cash strapped” excuse, as well as the whole “safety” thing (oh for God’s sake,…Please…)Stopped being valid July 1st,2008. If this socialist/totaliarianist crap were for $$$$, they’d have made the “tickets” with a few more teeth. And the reduction of crashes issue, NHTSA skews their #’s All th’ time; & D.P.S.; bald faced liars & authoritarians. They’re the cops I take issue with, & like No One says, we’ve already covered that.

The fact that Chandler P.D. acted so civilized doesn’t surprise me. Their reputation is pretty solid, especially for Arizona, which is fast getting a not so good rep, L.E. wise. Case in point…Sheriff Babeu, a former Chandler cop. If I had to deal with a cop, I’d prefer to deal with 1 like him. @ least he believes in the Constitution, & it shows. Counterpoint-D.P.S.,Oro Valley P.D.,Chino & Prescott Valley P.D.s, on & on & on. I’m not a huge fan of cops, ‘cuz I’ve personally seen proof of their “humanity”. However, that Chandler P.D. were decent doesn’t surprize me. Extra Raisin’ Pie for those guys!

    Remember…F R E E D O M ! ! !-Doc from Prescott

Go Chandler PD! Now remove your cameras!

  14. Law A. Bidingcitizen says:

kind of funy how the cameras in chandler are not an issue now!!!

doc- no issue is closed !!! you better learn that as this gets closer to the delivery date!!!

i wonder ( cause i dont know) if the good sheriff as a chandler pd ..if he was involved in their raid on the rights of the chandler citizens?

    F R E D O M from the L I E S !!!

  15. Mike says:

    “F R E D O M from the L I E S !!!”

What a tard – can’t even spell “freedom” right? What are you, 12? That might explain a lot.

  16. Bill says:

Well done Chandler PD, Well done! I would liked to have been there, but my school schedule would not allow it. As a firefighter myself, I always appreciate and respect professional and unbiased law enforcement support.

  17. dgpjr777 says:

Mike, where do you get your info that all Law Enforcement Officers are against the cameras except for DPS? I would really like to know, because I know alot of Officers that are very much in favor of the cameras so I hate to bust your bubble but you are wrong on that issue. Oh by the way alot of them are Chandler Officers also.
