This Week In FRAUD

this-week-in-god1Welcome to the second installment of: This Week In FRAUD!

But first, an email from an attentive reader:

Love the site… but did you steal the idea for “this week in fraud” from the Daily Show’s old segment: “this week in god”?

Just Wondering,

Yes, we did, Justin. Good artists copy, great artists steal.

Speaking of stealing, American Traffic Solutions is a top-notch thief, along with their co-conspirators in crime, the politicos at the Scottsdale Police Department  “Photo Enforcement Unit.” The Oceans 11 cast would blush compared to these top-notch fraudsters!

Name: Rape-van Ricky

3 (2005 Chevy Venture)

Address: None – public nuisance/vagrant – usually found on sidewalks in Scottsdale.

Scaring little old ladies, blocking the “Toys for Tots” sign on Christmas eve.

Rape-van Ricky (also known as CE-88722) is a true trooper, having been deployed to crime-ridden and viciously dangerous areas such as South Scottsdale. Fortunately, he’s never left alone, as he is manned when in operation by a lackey of ATS.

Not to be confused with Redflex’s photo vans in Tempe which share a similar appearance, we do not yet believe that ATS employees get loaded before trying to entrap motorists into a fraudulent ticket (give it time: knowing their employees, some story will probably break about the vans being used for drug trafficking. Oh, the humanity!)

    Just curious,

Legally, these men not being sworn police officers, would it not be illegal for them to occupy any vehicle marked with Police markings? I fail to see how this is any different then me sticking a red-blue light bar on top of my roof and driving around town with Police markings.

  4. AA says:

Joe, they’re contracted by the city to drive the officially marked vehicles. They’ve already covered their butts.

  5. RPr says:

Its the yellow vest that makes it entirely about safety LOL

  6. RC says:

You know I love when you idiots post crap like this. For every step forward you make you take about 2 steps back.

What you (and the ones who come on here and say its only about safety) fail to realize is that you are BOTH in the minority. You tend to believe that everyone is against them and anybody who supports them must only work for the camera company. While the other group believes that only speed criminals want the cameras down.

The vast majority saw the cameras go up and thaought “Crap I guess I’ll slow down” and went on with their lifes and never gave it a second thought.

Anyway the point I want to make is when you are trying to convince members of that majority to come to your side how the hell are they going to take you guys seriously with stories about “Rape Van” Ricky and someone locking their keys in their car that makes you and the about 30 or so people who attend your protests giggle. More than likley it will turn off at least half if not more people who may join your cause.

I guess with arrogant a-holes running the opposition, the cameras are staying up.

rape  /reɪp/ noun, verb, raped, rap⋅ing.

    4. an act of plunder, violent seizure, or abuse; despoliation; violation: the rape of the countryside.

  8. RC says:

You’re making my point for me again.

You think you’re clever by using the word “rape” because its fourth meaning agrees with your argument.

But when 9 out of 10 people see the word rape they think either

    1. the unlawful compelling of a woman through physical force or duress to have sexual intercourse.

    2. any act of sexual intercourse that is forced upon a person.

But you wouldn’t want to go and appeal to the masses now would you.

  9. me says:

Hey, be sure to let all the women here know you are now belittling the word ‘rape’

  10. AA says:

RC, the primest example of the public’s opinion of these cameras is the Santa episode. Broad daylight disabling of the cameras, and not one passerby called the authorities. If public opinion was so heavily in favor of these intrusions, don’t you think at least one person would have notified the police? As time goes on and more people are defrauded, public opinion will run much more deeply against these cameras, and I believe Redflex and ATS know it. They’re going to scam as much as they can while they can before they’re kicked out.

  11. I'm Back says:

Seriously RC, what are you even arguing about here? Semantics?

Sometimes it takes a little shock value to get a point across. Deal with it.

  12. j says:

i got flashed tonite going59 in a 55 looked around no other cars near me or passing. the speedometer and the navi both said 59. if i get a ticket that is how i will feel!

  13. RC says:

    I love it.

All of you have your head so far up your arses that you still don’t get my point.

I don’t care that you used the word rape.

But I’m sure when your average soccer mom come across this site they’ll find it all so funny and clever just like each and every one of you.

  14. j says:

whatever u say RC. when i dont have to be PC (when i am not working even sometimes at work). any of the soccermoms i know wouldnt be offended.if i said i got raped by photo enforcement. thanx fer the help rc.
