The onslaught of Post It notes on photo scam cams has lead DPS to assign an investigator to “determine who is obstructing speed-enforcement cameras on Valley freeways.”
“DPS officials say the acts of vandalism are attempts to prevent speeders from being ticketed.”
Vandalism?
Wikipedia defines vandalism as: “the behaviour attributed to the Vandals in respect of culture: ruthless destruction or spoiling of anything beautiful or venerable. Such action includes criminal damage, defacement, graffiti and crass erection of an eyesore.”
Crass erection of an eyesore? Sounds like the cameras themselves.

“Disturbing trends in traffic cameras”
Opinion
The Arizona Republic
11/28/2008
Regarding photo-traffic enforcement in Arizona, I find it very disturbing and quite outrageous that our state government would:
1. Conspire to outsource our traffic police to a foreign country in exchange for a percentage of the fines they generate.
2. Allow the Australian company Redflex to redistribute hundreds of millions of dollars in profits from photo enforcement back to Australia while the American economy collapses.
3. Claim that photo-traffic enforcement is making our streets much safer when rear-end collisions increase by as much as 54 percent where ever cameras are installed because drivers slam on their brakes when they see the camera’s flash.
It also makes me wonder that since automotive historians are now calling Scottsdale Mayor Mary Manross the “mother of freeway photo radar,” does that make Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano the “godmother”?
If you are wondering where this huge statewide expansion of photo enforcement is all going, just follow the money. – Bill Gilmore, Phoenix

Janzilla has done it again. From TheNewspaper.com:
Napolitano has wasted no time in getting her photo radar plan operational. She ordered the first 42 mobile ticketing units stationed every twenty miles on Interstates 10 and 40 over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
Gobble, gobble! Is turkey-neck Janet showing her lame duck colors? But wait, there’s more:
This means that an out-of-state family, unaware of the new program, could be hit with a total of twenty tickets while traveling with the flow of traffic between California and New Mexico. With court fees, the total cost of the citations would $3700.
These numbers don’t take into account the stationary (“flashing money tree”) units already littering the shoulders of our right-of-way.
NOTE: As far as we can tell, DP$ hasn’t figured out a way to serve out-of-state drivers, leaving the burden on in-state residents.
